Keeping the Spark Alive

It can be hard to keep the flames of passion burning in a relationship at times but when babies, toddlers, tweens and teens are thrown in to the equation it can be even more difficult. After all, kids are demanding and tantrums and sleep deprivation can be draining!

So how can you keep the spark alive after kids?

Turn off technology
The majority of us have our iPad, mobile and laptop that keep us in touch with everyone but if your relationship is suffering you need to turn technology off to turn your partner on. Try to have at least one night a week when you completely ignore calls, texts and tweets to spend time, uninterrupted, with your partner instead.

Time out
With work and other commitments you may struggle to relax and enjoy time together doing something you both love, but it's important to MAKE time. Family and friends are there to help out so don't feel guilty, take them up on offers and plan some date nights. Go for a meal, watch a movie or have some competitive fun bowling.

Increase contact
Pop a note in his lunch box, leave a message in the steam on the mirror, send a text. Anything to increase communication. Also try to increase physical contact too with hugs and kisses to make each other feel special, wanted and appreciated.

Surprise
The little unexpected gifts are the best ones. Whether that's sorting a candlelit bath for your partner after a hectic day, cooking them their favourite food or buying them flowers. It will put a smile on their face and make them happier.

*** WIN ***

They have kindly provided a 'Bound by Love' game to giveaway, to help rekindle your relationship or to simply have some fun with when the kids are finally tucked up in bed!

The game comes in a small box which is easy to store away and contains 1 game die, 50 action cards, 1 blindfold and 2 satin ties. You simply role the dice to determine who goes first and select a card from the pile. You then complete the task to help bring some imagination and experimentation to the bedroom! The challenges vary from a pillow fight to things that will leave your windows a little steamy. It's simple to play and great fun.

For your chance to win you can enter via the Rafflecopter entry form below.
The giveaway closes on 31st October 2012.

Good Luck

  2. We love movies so we take it in turns to choose one to watch and we try to go out for dinner once a month @MummyFever

  3. Not much but we always make time to watch some TV together. Something we both like.

  4. We like to go on long walks, to blow the cobwebs away (though we often end up at the pub/a restaurant though!) and just enjoy being with each other with no distractions.

  6. Not a lot, sadly, due to shift work & lack of babysitters. But when we have the chance we like to get out for meals, or just chill in front of the fire.

  7. We go to gigs (that's how we met) and eat out together. We don't do it often as we don't like to bother our parents for babysitting.

  8. We have two very small children so quality time is at a premium. The most we can manage is a bottle of wine and a movie!

  27. Make sure we have time to ourselves when we can. Sometimes we sneak off to a gig and pull an overnighter (thanks Mum!) and othertimes it's just a case of grabbing a couple of hours when the kids are in school and going for fish and chips and a walk on the pier.
