Delicious Drinks with Tassimo

I'd thought about getting the Mr a Tassimo for quite some time and the recent deals at Argos caught my eye - how can you say no with such big savings? It was also a bonus that apart from making his favourite coffees it would make tea for when guests visited and even hot chocolates, which I of course am a big fan of.

It's a multi-drinks maker.

My initial thoughts after the unboxing the Bosch Tassimo T65 Fidelia was that it was quite large but with a 1.8 litre water capacity that was not surprising. It is very sleek and modern in appearance and fits in well with our other black and silver appliances. I was slightly disappointed that no T DISCs were supplied but this was sorted quickly by ordering online from the Tassimo shop. Once you register your Tassimo you receive a voucher for £20 off a £25 shop which is really great value and a great way to build up a collection of different types of drinks to try.

I ordered the Breakfast Bundle, Kenco Medium Roast, Costa Caramel Latte, Suchard Hot Chocolate, Mastro Lorenzo Espresso and the Creamer from Milk T DISCs which came to just £15.55. This was enough for 128 drinks which is a bargain, especially considering how expensive coffee shops can be.

Setting the machine up was very quick and simple to do. It is advised to use the cleaning disc 4 times before making your first drink just to wash the system through but then you are ready to go. The display is very informative and gives you all instructions required to make a drink. It even tells you when the machine needs descaling and when the water is low, despite the tank being transparent, so you don't need to worry about looking. There is a removable and adjustable drip tray to cater for every cup size and the amazing bar code technology on each T DISC means the machine knows the exact amount of water required, the temperature of that water needed and the length of time to brew! It's a rather clever must-have gadget.

To make a drink
  • Add water into the tank to the fill line (the tank is easily removable and has a carry handle)
  • Select and insert your T DISC by lifting the top of the brewer and putting it barcode side down
  • Close the top
  • Put your cup in place and press the button

There is no mess to clean up afterwards, you simply remove the T-Disc and dispose of it.
The drinks are either small, medium or large (this is indicated on both the packaging and the machine) but you can add more water by pressing the button again at the end if you wish to. The handy light flashes green when the Tassimo is working and then moves to orange once back in standby mode so you know when it's safe to remove your cup. They really have thought of everything!

I really love the Tassimo and we use it daily instead of the kettle. I'd certainly recommend it for hot drink lovers. With such a variety of drinks available and now the new Costa range too I wish we had got on sooner!

  7. How does it compare to a filter coffee machine? Economically, practically and taste-wise.

  8. I have looked around at the single cup coffee machines for about one year. This is one brand that I had not checked on. Thank you for the review and I will consider when I do finally purchase.

  13. I just bought a Nescafe Dolce Gusto machine. I love it & the drinks taste great, but the choice of flavours available in the shop's isn't very good. The flavours I like, such as vanilla, caramel andothers have to be ordered from the online shop and there's a delivery charge. There's alsp parts of the machine that are impossible to clean. I wish I had got the Tassimo one now.
