My View Right Now

The Mini Mes have coped unbelievably well with the recent upheaval for our home renovation. Children seem to adapt to changes, new situations and new people with ease don't they? They just go with the flow. They can sense that it's better to accept what's happening and they just get on with it. They don't feel the need to moan or worry (as us adults often do) as they know everything will be sorted and back to normal in no time.

They are carefree and that's the best way to be!

They have been eating dinner from trays each day, getting up a lot earlier and getting ready for the day before the workmen arrive. They have been incredibly organised and positive despite the dust
and noise and even putting up with random bits and bobs that have been dumped in their rooms without complaint.

I felt the urge to take a picture last night to remind myself that even with so much going on around them they will sit peacefully and watch a show together. That regardless of the bags, chairs and even a huge tent by their feet they just act the same as they would every other day.
That despite the chaos they focus on the good.

Looking back at this from time to time will hopefully remind me to do the same, in the current situation and in other stressful events in the future.

  1. You make a very good point! Kids are very resilient and seem to cope with change better than we do (maybe because they're not the ones doing the work!). Good luck with the renovations.

  2. As you say, us adults could do well to learn from our kids! I guess the responsibility falls on our shoulders and if your kids trust you (as they obviously do) then they will take it all in their stride. Well done kids (and you!).

  3. I agree with the Sarah and Suzanne, a lesson to be learnt I think. I know when we were having building work they acted as if nothing was going on and I was pulling my hair out xxx

  5. We could learn a lot from the kid's attitude, as has already been said above!

  6. You are right about kids and we should all learn to take a page out of their books sometimes.

  9. Kids do seem to just 'bounce', they get on with it don't they. At what age do we lose that most flexible of skills?!

  15. I can empathise with this so much. Our home is in a state of renovation and we have boxes of stuff hidden everywhere. I'm determined to get the rooms decorated before Xmas!! :)
