Family Fun with Food *WIN*

Cooking is a great way for kids to get creative while having fun and learning valuable life skills.
With it being National Chocolate Week last week we were very excited to receive a Make and Melt kit from Choc on Choc, which gave us the opportunity to build a white and milk chocolate edible house! I'm not sure who was more pleased, the Mini Mes or my very sweet tooth!

The kit contained:

  • White chocolate buttons
  • Milk chocolate butons
  • Paper chefs hat
  • Moulds for the house and trees
  • Garden scene
  • Instructions

The instructions were really well detailed and I left Minxy to make the house all by herself while I just observed scoffed chocolate. She loves crafts and cooking so this was a great mix of both for her to enjoy. We don't tend to use the microwave so she melted the chocolate above a bowl of water on the hob as instructed before pouring into the moulds to set. It was a very easy task and the moulds can be washed and reused again and again which is great; I think these may come in handy at Christmas to make ginger flavoured chocolate versions!

It was smaller than we expected, the imagery on the box makes it appear larger than it actually is, but she was still happy using the kit and with the finished product. The house is split into 6 sections (2 roof sections and 4 walls) plus 2 trees and once set these are stuck together with more melted chocolate. It seemed to work well and it was quite stable once complete. The pieces were well formed and there were no problems removing them from the mould and constructing the building.
Minxy coloured in the picture and displayed the house proudly on top until eaten.

The taste of the chocolate was lovely, I would happily order bags of buttons to eat or gift to others. The kit is also very well presented in a box (reusable) with card sleeve and at £12.99 it is fairly priced for the quality.

You can find out more information and purchase your own on the Choc on Choc website.
