Money Management - If I Won the Lottery...

Each week when checking my little pink ticket I always hope for a big win, I mean who doesn't? I imagine seeing the numbers appearing on the screen, glancing down at the piece of paper between my fingers and realising that they actually match would be so unbelievable. I'm not sure how I would cope with the excitement!

Money is such a big part of life, whether you worry because you don't have enough or because you never know what to spend your bank balance on, and receiving millions would alter your lifestyle forever. It could even have a huge impact on the lives of important family members and special friends that mean so much to you too - you could help loved ones or your community out financially.

If it was my lucky day and I scooped the jackpot, after the initial screams of delight and recovering from the shock, I think I would have a long sit down and plan my spends. Having such a lot of cash to play with could be a bit overwhelming and I would probably seek out a wealth management company to help me manage my newfound wealth sensibly. There are however a number of things I would definitely have on the top of my 'to buy' list that I'd be eager to shop for ASAP....

Travel
Travel is already a big passion of mine, well the whole family really, so I would arrange a long break to explore the world. We would enjoy relaxing days in the Maldives, a safari through Africa, some retail therapy in Dubai and of course a trip to Disney World to see Mickey and co. It would be lovely to jet off without needing to think about the costs and really indulging while taking in the sites and making some unforgettable memories.

New Home
A new home would be a must and I'd have several acres of land to go with it. I'd have an indoor heated pool, a cinema, a huge soft play area (I do love diving into a ball pond) and of course a big gym so I can finally burn off this baby weight, even if it is 10 years too late. On that note, I'd also have a nutritionist and personal trainer to get into great shape - it would be nice to focus on little old me for a change and have the time to do so.

New Car
My Fiesta is nearly 17 years old now and even though the Mr has a sleek and modern family car I would really like to have a Range Rover to get from A to B in comfort and style. It would be lovely to get the Mini Mes their own vehicles in just a few years time when they begin lessons too and possibly have a sports car in the garage for some convertible fun in the summer months.

Properties
Property development is something I've always been interested in and although I wouldn't need to earn money or work if I won millions I think I would certainly want something to keep me busy day in and out or as an investment. Therefore, I would purchase a few houses, renovate them and let them out/sell them on to keep me occupied.

Equilibrium have put together this infographic to show you how a lottery win could be spent.
What would be top of your 'to buy' list?

  2. I'd do some sensible stuff like pay off the mortgage and then I'd look to buy a new car. I don't think it would be too fancy though as I prefer smaller cars, but I'd get the top of the range.

  3. We don't play the lottery so sadly it won't ever happen for us but if it did then I'd invest a massive chunk of it in some of my favourite charities and then have a fab family holiday. Mich x

  4. How incredible to think that there are people who DO spend their money like that! If I won the lottery I'd send my parents anywhere they wanted to be, buy a house that would fit us all in instead of being cramped and overcrowded, and take the money stresses off everyone I could. The Dogs trust and GOSH would get most of my money.

  6. For us the first thing would be an amazing family holiday whilst we decided what to do with the rest. We give a % of our salaries to charity anyway, so would do the same with a win.

  12. *Secret are told only to the people who are ready to be part of the waves,
winning the lottery is divine, but you have to strive to all the perfection
to win the lottery, winning the lottery is one of the best thing in life, i
am a lottery winner, but before i fall into the light , i have some very
bad experience in playing the lottery, because my life was at stake, then
lottery seems to be the only means that come into my head, i played the
lottery steadily over 3 years , but i could not win more than $600, but i
always see people winning millions of dollars, so with that i extended my
search for victory , then i found Dr.Fabo a powerful voodoo Dr. who
promise to help me win the lottery. Although i was directed to him by one
successful old lottery winner who i trust and look up to for secret behind
winning the lottery, i contacted Dr.Fabo and he did his normal work for me
and finally i won the lottery,$35,000,000.00. I am happy today because i
am a millionaire, and every mature minded human should use this method to
win the lottery as well. contact

Firstly sort out all my family, pay off their debts, buy them houses etc, then like you a nice house with indoor pool for me plus a villa in the Canaries. Buy a few properties to rent out as a long term income for retirement.

If I won the lottery I would pay off my mortgage and move to the coast somewhere, rather than stay in the Midlands.

    ReplyDelete
  36. A new home would do me. Plus one for each of my kids.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I would definitely move house, not to a mansion, but somewhere that would give us more space and have at least one "spare" bedroom, and hopefully a study so I could work in peace. It's important to make sure the children are well looked after financially too, but other than that I'd just make sure we enjoyed life :-)

  38. Would love to clear my mortgage

    ReplyDelete
  39. If I won the lottery I would buy a big family house next to the sea.

  42. If I won the lottery I would pay the mortgage off, go on a nice family holiday and look after all my family and friends.

  43. Lottery Win :- Would be spent, obviously depending on amount won :- Priorities etc. I would like a Comfortable, Practical, Safe Home, much needed services would be welcome, such as :- cleaner, House Keeper etc who could order food, toiletries etc. Maybe a Chef / Cook. Chauffeur maybe, to take us out for the day, or for an evening at the Theatre etc. Beginning to seem like the life of Royalty.

Maybe we would need to consider Investments. As we need to continue to have a good regular income to support Quality Lifestyle for remainder of life. So maybe Land, Property, Gold, Antiques, etc, etc

I'd like to give to the Community also. Maybe provide a Community Centre where individuals, groups, families etc could attend to keep warm, get some healthy food, exercise, entertainment. They could maybe participate with the decor, naming, organisation etc. As aim would be for it to be a place for individuals to come together to maintain health, welfare and Wellbeing of the whole Community.
