Dinky Jam Doughnuts

You can coat them in sugar, drizzle sauce over them, dip them in chocolate or fill them with soft warm apples. There are just so many different ways to enjoy doughnuts.
We were recently sent some new Robinsons Fruit Shoot jams to put to the test and the first thing I that came to mind was doughnuts - so we decided to make some!

Miniature in size these are perfect for picnics or parties.

Ingredients (Makes approx 20)

225g Self raising flour
140ml milk
130g caster sugar
45ml oil
1 egg
Pinch of salt
Robinsons Fruit Shoot Strawberry jam to dip/drizzle/fill

Method
  • Combine the egg, milk and oil in a bowl
  • Pour into the sugar, flour and salt and stir well to remove any lumps. It should create a thick batter
  • We placed heaped tablespoons into our doughnut making machine to create the rounded shape however you can place balls into hot oil (medium heat) and cook for around 5 minutes until lightly golden
  • Drizzle the jam over the top, insert inside or place in a small bowl to dunk the doughnuts in
  • Scoff!

The jam we used is Strawberry & Summer fruits but there are also Orange and Apple & blackcurrant available in the Fruit Shoot range. Each comes in an squeezable plastic container so it's easy to serve and with 30% less sugar than standard jams they are a healthier alternative. Each is suitable for vegetarians, vegans, coeliacs and those requiring a gluten free diet plus they are packed with fruit (45g of fruit is used per 100g). Being seedless and really smooth in texture we have used them as ice cream sauces too!

What is your favourite doughnut topping?
