The Mr had already been to the tip, walked the dog and done the food shopping this morning before I had even climbed out of bed, my hero! We didn't really have any plans as such and with heavy rain and snow on the way we spent the morning creating lanterns to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
They are really easy to make and require very few materials; just paper, scissors and tape or staples. You can use pens or paint to decorate them too if you wish with some pretty designs or Chinese writing.
To make the lanterns you fold the paper (we used coloured A3) in half length ways and cut 12 equal spaced lines from the fold, leaving two inches at the opposite side.
Open out the paper and fold it round to create your lantern, using tape or staples to attach the two ends together.
To make the handle you cut a strip of paper around an inch thick and attach this to one end of the lantern with the tape or staples.
We repeated this process to make 7 lanterns and we then hung them up on ribbon in the window.
Happy Chinese New Year!
Did you do anything to celebrate?
Love this
