Father's Day With Braun

When it comes to Father's Day gifts I often struggle with ideas. Socks and chocs are a little bit boring
whereas I worry that expensive or quirky gifts won't be appreciated; his tastes are forever changing and I want to make a purchase that won't be left to gather dust! Opting for something practical is therefore my plan this year and the Braun Series 3 Shaver will be ideal.

The Mr received one recently and he dumped his old razor rapidly and replaced it with this sleek machine. He has only used it a few times so far but it does such a great job on both his hair and beard (even when in the shower) that he won't be switching back. He has even packed it for the Isle of Man TT this week!

The Mr doesn't shave daily (more so because I prefer the rough and rugged look than him being lazy) yet this shaver glides through thick stubble with ease. It is shaped nicely for great grip and with adjustable blades it moves around the contours of his face comfortably. It has a locking head however for upper lip precision which he has said is useful too. Braun really have thought of everything!

"It's a seriously good bit of kit" - The Mr

Within the box is a zip up protective pouch to stop it getting damaged while travelling and it has a small brush to keep it clean which helps to prevent it from getting clogged. It also comes complete with a charging dock, which can be used as a stand, and the relevant cable to connect it to your shaver point, although it can be used wirelessly during shaving too.

When it first arrived the instructions advise to charge for 4 hours but subsequent charges only take around an hour. This enables 45 minutes of shaving time approximately which is plenty long enough for daily shaves over the course of a week - he doesn't need to worry bout charging it until the weekend.

When the battery is low the low-charge light will flash to indicate that it needs charging which is a useful function.

It is really easy to use with a simple on/off button and flexible shaving foils which will automatically adjust to your face. There is a long hair trimmer on the reverse which can be extended when required for moustaches, beards and sideburns (I wonder if Guy Martin has one, the Mr's idol). There is a precision setting switch which can be slid across to lower the centre trimmer and one foil to make shaving in harder places, like under the nose, easy.

The Series 3 range has been created with those that don't shave daily in mind and although it is really tough on trimming hair after several days of growth, it's very gentle against the skin with minimal irritation. Saying that, it's also great for those that do shave more regularly (like my dad) with it being a mid-range shaver suitable for long and short hair.

The shaver has Braun's Triple Action Free Float System and both wet and dry functions. The Mr can use this directly on his skin or when in the shower teamed with gel or foams. It really is fantastic for every situation.

It's a very versatile product suited to the majority of men and therefore the perfect gift for Father's Day.
