Degustabox

If you are like me and love surprise deliveries a subscription to Degustabox might be just the thing for you! For just £12.99 a month, including delivery, you will receive 9-14 items from well known brands or newcomers to the market, to enjoy. There is no commitment required as you can quit at any time and it's a great way to discover food and drink products that you might not normally pick up with your weekly shop.

We certainly did with our August box...

Lindt chocolates £3.49
This little tin of 10 milk chocolate hearts is a great miniature sized treat for those with a sweet tooth like myself, although I did share on this occasion! They have the same Lindt taste I've grown to love with the Lindor selection and with each being individually wrapped they stay fresh for longer. A great gift solution too when you want to say thank you, well done or get well without breaking the bank.

Schwartz Flavour Shots £1.39 each
We received two of these (Spanish Smoked Paprika Chicken and Mexican Fajitas flavours) and they are wonderful for adding lots of flavour to your dishes. If your child goes to clubs (like the Mini Mes) or there are days when you work late it's likely you want a speedy dinner and these are ideal. Add to your protein or pasta and you have a meal with no real effort. Perfect. Id recommend having a few in the cupboard just in case.

Fever-Tree Tonic Water and Ginger Beer £1.69 each
I'm generally not keen on beer or tonic but my mum conveniently popped by when these arrived and she is a big fan of both! She said they were really pleasant and she is reusing the bottles for flowers - a great way to recycle them! I really like the packaging which is very seasonal... I might wrap a few up in Christmas hampers.

Berry White Organic Drinks (Peach and Goji Berry) £1.59
This has a really mild taste but it is very refreshing and a nice alternative to the fizzy drinks and juices that I usually consume. It has an interesting flavour combination and there are others, which are just as unique, available too; Cranberry & Guava, Pomegranate &Blueberry, Lemon & Ginger. 10% of profits are given to the Berry White Foundation which enables the less provided to be educated through a variety of projects around the world. Bonus.

Dr Oetker Edible Wafer Cupcake Cases £2.50
These are pure genius! I've always disliked having to throw the paper cases away after eating a cake and I'm surprised nobody came up with this idea sooner. They are really thick and quite robust (they can go in the oven) and they certainly save on waste and washing up. I no longer need to worry about a crumb filled wrapper being popped back into the Mini Mes' lunch boxes. They can eat the entire thing.

Cawston Press Kids' Blend carton (Apple and Pear) £1.89 for a pack of three
I'm really keen on products like these that have no additives and are made with just real fruit and water. I feel happy giving them to the children or drinking them myself. They are ideal for picnics and school in particular or for after the gym. It has a very strong fruit taste and it wasn't long before Minxy had removed this from my grasp to drink for herself.

Mexican Dave's Tortilla Chips (Lightly Salted) £1
I generally don't eat plain or salted crisps, I prefer meat or prawn flavour, but combined with some dip they were really nice and at just £1 they are great value. We managed to share these while watching a movie. They have a nice snap when bitten into and they hold toppings well. I would certainly buy these for when guests visits on our card and poker nights.

Pasquier Brioche and Croissants £1.69 and £1.79
We really like these to the extent that they tend to fall into our shopping trolley most weeks for breakfast or snacks. Heated with a smear of butter they are truly delicious and both have a moist and crumbly texture. We used the brioche in a chocolate bread and butter pudding the recipe for which you can find here.

Caribeean Twist (Strawberry Daiquiri) £2.50
These are quite often on offer in our local supermarket so if I'm not having spirits with family and friends I pick a few bottles up. They are really large in size so perfect for sharing or enjoying across an entire evening. Bursting with fruity flavour but not too sweet, the Mr sometimes has a glass too. It was nice to try this different flavour and I would certainly have it again.

As part of a new scheme a voucher for a fridge item was also included, on this occasion it was for a pack of 4 MOMA yogurts which you can collect at Sainsburys or Waitrose. With muesli and fruit in each pot they are very filling and a bit more exciting than a normal breakfast. Including a voucher for fresh produce really widens the variety of the box and I look forward to seeing what arrives in the September edition.

Total Value: £23.85
Saving: £10.86

We thoroughly enjoyed our box and the saving, it would've been a lot more expensive had we purchased the items individually from a store!

  4. I honestly thought the edible cupcases would taste horrible and were a waste of money. How wrong could I be. All the kids keep asking is when are we going to have them again! They remind me of my Nan's macaroons so will definitely be buying some x
