Simple ways to upgrade your home

Our home is our sanctuary: a place that we can truly make our own. There are so many different ways to decorate our home, and the best part about that is if you don’t like it, you can change it! Taking a trip to Tesco and picking up a few bits in the home section can make the world of difference.

An upgrade to your interior decor doesn’t have to be this big event; some simple changes can transform your home into whatever your heart desires. Here are a few ways to upgrade your home decor.

Add a unique lamp
A lamp isn’t only a source of light, it can also add a unique splash to your room. A brightly colored lampshade will add a certain flair to the room, adding color and light that you can tailor to any mood.

Rearrange the furniture
Upgrading your interior could be as simple as rearranging the furniture in the living room. Pushing your furniture up against the wall may make your room feel bigger, but you may soon find conversation to be a bit difficult. To make a cozier social space, push the sofa to the center of the room, making it “float” with surrounding arm chairs.

Use smaller settings
Just because a piece isn’t oversized doesn’t mean it can’t have value. Smaller furniture pieces are flexible enough to fit in many settings, and can add flavor to an otherwise boring room. That’s why items like slimmer console tables and petite end tables are so useful.

Use an area rug
A large rug in the center of the room can help tie all the furniture together, but make sure it’s deployed correctly. To do this, make sure all the furniture legs are on the area rug. If that’s not possible, keep the front legs on the rug.

As you can see, redecorating your home doesn’t have to be a huge ordeal or expense. It can be as simple as rearranging your furniture, and instantly your home is transformed.

  1. One way we find to help change or upgrade our home is we have a dining room and lounge connected by double doors - when we get bored, we swap the rooms around so we have both a change of scenery and use different bits of furniture to do up the room.
