Clearing Out The Closets To Beat Childhood Cancer Sooner

With our little ones returning to, or starting, a year of academic adventure as school begins, it's a great opportunity to detox the wardrobes and make space for the new uniforms. Those crisp, ironed shirts, pleated skirts and polished patent shoes all need to find their place for this term and beyond, so it's time to shift the summer fashion and free up some hangers!

The Mini Mes grow so quickly that their clothes rarely last more than two seasons so with the arrival of autumn I can remove their t-shirts and shorts and put them to better use.

Their taste changes rapidly when it comes to characters so I can get rid of these Hello Kitty and Moshi Monster items!

These firm favourites got plenty of wear but they are probably a bit too worn to keep hold of.

By simply having a quick rummage through their rails I can tidy up and make it easier to find their knits and trousers ready for the cooler weather while also making room for their recently purchased back to school clothing. If this wasn't reason enough however, there is a bigger incentive from TK Maxx that may tempt you to bag up your unneeded stuff too.

For over a decade TK Maxx has been the official corporate sponsor for Cancer Research UK (Kids and Teens) and they have helped to raise a staggering £19.7 million of vital funds. Their fantastic campaign named Give Up Clothes For Good simply asks for you to bag up any unwanted clothing, pop them along to your nearest store to donate where they are converted into money for research into childhood cancer. You can even give up your accessories and homeware goods too if you're feeling like a domestic goddess and fancy a real clean. Those shelves with soon be displaying class photos, certificates and art work after all!

This is the biggest clothes collection in the UK and every bag could be worth a fabulous £30, when gift aid is added, so each item really makes a difference. This certainly inspired me to spend just a few minutes having a clothing clear out.

It would be lovely to see your donations to this worthy cause, especially as September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so feel free to tweet your pictures with the #GiveUpClothes hashtag. TK Maxx will also be happy to share them too.

 Bag it, bring it, help beat childhood cancers sooner.

  4. I had no idea TK Maxx were so involved! I'm based in Ireland so I must have a look and see if they have a similar donation system here. I've been planning on getting rid of stuff for ages! Definitely a great excuse to clear out some bits and bobs. :)

  7. I'm abit of a hoarder with the kids clothes at times, which isn't great judging by how much I buy them. I think this might be incentive for me to have a major spring/autumn clean!

  17. Oh lovely! I have quite a few clothes to get rid of I was going to sell but for the few pounds I would get on local selling pages, I would much rather see them make a lot more to help children with cancer. Such a worthy charity.
