Pumpkin Carving Ideas (PLUS Your Chance To Win A £250 Voucher)

Halloween is our second favourite time of year (after Christmas) so with the date fast approaching we have been getting more than a little excited! We've been baking some spooky treats, preparing for our party, trying on costumes and enjoying some creative fun by carving designs into pumpkins.

Gravelmaster understand the importance of having fun as a family outdoors and they have therefore created a competition. If you have organised something for 31st October don't forget to share your pumpkin pics too as you could win a £250 voucher!

There are many places where you can pick your own, with Hatton Country World being our local farm of choice, although you can easily pick up your giant orange veg from the supermarket for convenience.

Traditionally jack-o'-lanterns have a grotesque faced carved into them to represent spirits but The Mini Mes prefer to download some character templates to use, or come up with their own ideas, which have a more modern and friendly feel. Perfect for a young family.

After chopping the tops off, the centres were scooped out and their designs were drawn on. They then carefully cut out the pictures and inserted their tealights.

Jamster is a little bit obsessed with Marvel and DC so Batman was his choice this year.
Minxy loves animals and Hello Kitty so she opted for a cat.

Even if you aren't going trick or treating you can still enjoy the celebration at home with some activities including Halloween crafts and by making some Halloween cakes. We generally have a themed buffet and some games before heading outside with buckets to collect goodies from the neighbours.

How to enter:
Create a blog post with your pumpkin photos and mention Gravelmaster.co.uk or this competition page. Then either tweet the link to @gravel_master using the #pumpkincrazy hashtag or email it to halloween@gravelmaster.co.uk. Judges will assess the finished pumpkins using the criteria of Creativity, Involvement and Success before contacting the lucky winner via twitter/email to arrange their prize!

Will you be carving pumpkins this Halloween?

  2. They're both really good. For the first time ever, I carved a pumpkin this year. It was great fun. I'll be having another go next year.
