Peter Rabbit Organic Sauce and Drinks

I like to make meals myself so I know exactly what is in them for my family and I generally avoid tins and jars of pre-made sauces, but they can really come in handy when time isn't on your side. When we were offered the chance to review some products from the Peter Rabbit Organics range I was keen to get involved knowing they are healthy yet convenient for parents like myself. They don't add sugar, salt or anything artificial so you know you are providing your child with the best.

We were sent their Apple and Grape Juice Drink and their Garden Vegetables sauce to put to the test.

The sauce is packed with tomatoes, onions, carrots, basil and celery all of which are 100% organic and they are also low in calories (24 per 100g). A 300g jar is enough to feed 3 and is suitable from 9 months of age so all the family can enjoy it. I decided to use it with some pasta and meatballs.

Meatballs
750g minced beef
1 onion, diced
1 egg, beaten

Add all the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. Form around 18 balls and pan fry until cooked throughout.
Add the Peter Rabbit sauce and allow to simmer for a few minutes stirring regularly.
Serve with cooked pasta

We all really enjoyed the sauce which is adapted from an authentic Italian recipe. It was full of flavour and thick in texture with some carrot chunks in there too. The aroma was really lovely.

It was nice knowing the Mini Mes were eating lots of veg without even really realising it and I imagine this would be ideal for fussy eaters! I will be keeping a few of these spare in the cupboard as a quick alternative to the one I usually make from scratch. It is reasonably priced at £1.89 in comparison to other brands and knowing it is all organic I wouldn't object to paying this. If you don't use an entire jar you can pop it in the fridge where it will remain fresh for up to a week.

Apart from Garden vegetables you can also get the sauce in two alternative flavours; Italian Vegetable and Tomato & Basil. They are very versatile and can be used with potato, rice and as a pizza topping.

The 150ml juice cartons are handy for lunch boxes, trips and travelling and contain organic apple juice, organic grape juice, water and added vitamin C making them a healthy option. They are quite mild in taste which is ideal for my two as they aren't keen on really strong flavoured, sweet drinks. Both of the Mini Mes liked them and I thought they were pleasant too. The straws are extendable which is handy to get right to the bottom of the carton and they are perfectly sized for small child sized hands.

There are other flavours available too; Blackcurrant and Apple and Pear.

Peter Rabbit Organics range is on sale in a selection of supermarkets, independent stores and cafes.
