Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure
Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products and Stage Entertainment Touring Productions proudly present Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure - a ground-breaking arena show which starts in October and features everyone’s favourite Ice Age characters brought to life, taking audiences on a jaw-dropping adventure with an all-new storyline inspired by the first four films of the top-grossing international animated film franchise of all time.
With the stage trucks arriving very soon, the countdown has begun to what is set to be the most thrilling, impressive and dramatic arena show of the year.
Such realistic characters! |
Tickets are now on sale for this stunning new production, which celebrates its world premiere at Wembley Arena on 2nd November – before the world’s favourite herd starts a five year global adventure, at arenas across the world. This will be preceded by preview shows at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff on 19th – 21st October and Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena on 25th – 28th October.
The show will include countless action-packed thrills, eye-popping effects, mischievous humour and toe-tapping songs as the loveable characters Scrat, Manny, Diego, Sid, Ellie, Peaches, Buck, Eddie and Crash embark on a journey of discovery with several new characters created for the live show.
Sid and his friends have been designed to look like authentic animals and are bound to inspire, excite and overwhelm audiences. Each character has amazingly realistic facial expressions and synchronised lips that will speak and sing to the audience, bringing them all to life. They are giant in size, with Manny the Mammoth standing at a height of 3.5m, a length of 5.4m from tail to tusks, and a width of 1.2m, (2.4m including tusks), while new character Shadow – the evil bird – has a wing span of 5m. The set will also be a spectacular recreation of the Ice Age world with realistic props, video, lights and special effects to create rocks, caves and icebergs.
Co-directors Guy Caron (Cirque du Soleil) and Michael Curry (Lion King, Cirque du Soleil) head a world-class creative team, working their magic and artistic genius into gravity-defying acrobatics and breath-taking costumes. Storylines have been interwoven with the original concept, book, music and lyrics of Ella Louise Allaire & Martin Lord Ferguson, character dialogues supervised by Ice Age co-writer Michael Berg, and sets designed by British born David Shields.
“Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure is a fantastic piece of storytelling and it combines two of the most important things in my life – animals and comedy,” says Michael Curry. “I’m really looking forward to bringing the Ice Age herd to life – they’re going to have so much fun in this live show! We are using the very best combinations we can bring to the table, with human actors, comedy, Kung Fu, ice skating, circus, costume performers and video illusion to combine many different forms – whatever works best to tell the story.”
Guy Caron was Cirque du Soleil’s first Artistic Director when the company was created in 1984 and is bringing his expertise to a new type of show, he says: “For me, it’s a family show – it’s for the kids, it is for the parents and it is for everybody.”
With nearly $3 billion taken at the box office, plus $2 billion in home entertainment and merchandise sales, Ice Age is the world’s most successful animated franchise. Ice Age Live! A Mammoth Adventure comes at a great time with the DVD release of the fourth installment of the film series, Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D on 10 December. The film features a returning cast voiced by Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Seann William Scott, and Queen Latifah along with new characters voiced by Jennifer Lopez among others.
