7 Valentines Gifts with a Difference

Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s unlikely that if you are in a relationship you let Valentine’s Day pass without marking the occasion in some way. However, you may not want to go down the slightly tired route of flowers or chocolate. You will want your partner to know how special they are to you, therefore here are some fantastic gifts which will go some way to proving that point. These off-beat gifts offer something a bit different to the usual. Hopefully there will be something here to suit your loved one.

A Low Maintenance Pet
Whereas buying your other half a cat or a dog can prove to be more of a burden than a gift with constant feeding, walking and other upkeep, there are alternatives. Getting your love a guinea pig, tropical fish or a budgie can make the suggestion of a continued commitment and take your relationship to the next level. They are also very cute.

Weekend Package Break
A nice relaxing coach trip like the ones organised by UK Breakaways to cities such as Edinburgh, Liverpool and Newcastle can be a great early year weekend break. Why not take them to a place they’ve never been before for a romantic holiday?

A Rare Book
Do some detective work and find out their favourite book or one that they have got a special connection to. Websites such as Peter Harrington sell rare first editions of many titles as well as signed copies.

Tickets to See Their Favourite TV Show
The BBC offer free tickets to be in the live studio audience for many of their TV and radio shows. A thoughtful gift would be to get tickets for you both to see your favourite TV show together live. It’ll change the way you watch the show in the future.

Piece of Original Art
There is a variety of websites selling original artwork. You could try and find a piece that you think would appeal to your partner or, alternatively, if you have the money and the contacts, commission a piece especially. It’s not always as expensive as you think.

Hire Your Own Private Chef
Go one better than going out to a restaurant for a meal. Websites such as Chefinmykitchen.co.uk enable you to get your own professional cook to treat the pair of you.

Become a Survival Expert
The website Red Letter Days run survival weekends with TV personality Bear Grylls for the princely sum of £999. Alternatively, if your other half is not a fan or perhaps you aren’t willing to spend the best part of a grand, you can purchase a snooker masterclass with legend of the game, Jimmy White MBE.

  6. Some really good ideas here. My hubby is a big fan of the artist Russell Flint and I like to find prints of his work as a gift for him. They are very rare and it can be fun looking.
