Mother's Day Gift Guide

Flowers and chocolates are always gratefully received at Mother's Day but there are some lovely gift solutions available that make amazing alternatives to these traditional items. Here are a few of the ones we received recently that will certainly put a smile on mums face this Sunday!

Stabilo Pen Sets - £various
In their very own cases these pens are functional yet funky! They are ideal for mums that like to be organised with writing lists or just bringing a splash of colour to their work at home or away (like me). They have a ventilated cap for safety, which is peace of mind with kids in the home, and they have a long cap off life which is ideal for the moments when you need to dash away forgetting to replace it.

The Mini Jeans set contains 8 colour-intensive premium fibre-tip pens for creating strong lines with odourless water-based ink. The Point 88 set contains 25 pens with a metal enclosed tip for a long life span. Both feature some amazing colours!

This heavy weight heart shaped tray is perfect for keys, loose change or mums essentials. Hand stamped with a beautiful message it's a sentimental gift that will last year after year and the tiny heart detailing makes it even more special. It comes gift boxed too for your convenience.

It is rust and tarnish resistant and being made from solid pewter it's certainly hard wearing. I have mine on the bedside table for my precious accessories although Minxy has tried to claim it as her own as she thinks it is so pretty!

Sanctuary Spa With Love Set - £22 (was £45)
This beautifully presented gift not only contains a large selection of best-selling products to create a sanctuary at home, but the butterfly covered box itself can be used for storage afterwards too. A lot of thought has gone into this and it's really obvious to see; there is a notelet designed by Frederick Wimsett included to leave a personalised message for your mother and it is even generously lined with pretty coral tissue paper.

Within the two compartments there are a total of 10 items for a top to toe pamper session.

Luxury Bath Float (75ml)
Cleansing Burst Body Wash (250ml)
Gentle Polish Body Scrub (200ml)
Feather-Light Moisture Spray (50ml)
Foaming Creamy Bath Soak (75ml)
Silky Smooth Body Lotion (250ml)
Luxurious Body Butter (100ml)
Intensive Heel Balm (75ml)
Hand Cream (75ml)
Ultimate Salt Scrub (60g)

'Expertly created to revive, uplift & replensih' these goodies contain a variety of essential oils, sea salt, vitamins and more to make a relaxing experience for mum. Several of these now sit at the side of my bath and are used regularly. The fragrances are lovely and it leaves skin soft and smooth. It gets a big thumbs up, especially at that price!

The EasyLock - £24.95
This is a great present for mums that are always on the move, whether that's using public transport or flying away for work and play. It's a new invention that keeps handbags and luggage secure while out and about and it can even be used within the home or hotels on doors, which is really useful.

It is light weight and small enough to fit in your pocket, it comes in pink or silver and there is a little pouch included for transportation. Fitting is also very straightforward and the instruction sheet included is easy to follow. A great idea for added security and to keep mum feeling safe wherever she may be.

MUM's Notes - £12.95

These handy journals come in a variety of designs to suit mums taste and and they are a great way to keep track of important dates, projects, special events and if you're anything like me an endless 'to do'! It is hard-backed making it rather robust and the double ribbon is ideal for gaining easy access to your most recent notes.

Each book contains 128 sheets of paper with a blank and lined page per double spread. It has the signature pink printing of MUM's Office too.

Pukka Organic Tea - £1.89 (on offer in Tesco)
Nothing beats a good brew while snuggling up with a decent read or soaking in the tub and the Pukka flavour range is immense! Whether you are looking for something a little fruity like Wild Apple and Cinnamon or perhaps something refreshing like Lemon Ginger & Manuka Honey, they have some great combinations.

At low prices these are a nice little pocket money present that the kids can treat mum to themselves. The packaging is rather pretty too.

This beautifully fragranced handmade soap smells of sweet seaweed and is packaged in a cute crabby wrapper that mum will love. It is 100% vegetable and created in a UK soapery where it hasn't been tested on animals for your peace of mind. Being 200g it is bound to last a long time and as it's unisex the whole family can enjoy it too if they wish!

Pop one on your soap dish today and you won't be disappointed.

Renewing Rose Body Velvet - £50
This brand new and limited edition product from Aromatherapy Associates has been released to celebrate their 30th birthday. Packed with essential oils and plant extracts it nourishes skin and provides a silky smooth finish while firming and rejuvenating the body in the process.

The mild scent of rose, geranium and sandalwood is really nice and ideal for mums that like floral scents. With the colder weather still lingering this is a great way to ensure mum's skin stays moisturised until summer and beyond.

Lush - £various
Lush have a great range of products all year round but they have recently released some extra items especially for Mother's Day. There is the Yummy Mummy Shower gel which is a pretty pastel purple colour which features silver lustre for added sparkle. It smells delicious in lilac and tonka!

Bubblegrub has a shimmering affect too and loaded with Shea butter it creates a creamy and richly moisturising bubble bath. For those after something a little more traditional there is Rose; a soft and delicate bubble bar which can be crumbled under running water to soften and condition.

Lumie Bodyclock IRIS 500 - £160
Mums are often the last to bed and the first to rise, sometimes with a few disturbances during the night too, so making the sleep to awake transition as pleasant as possible will be greatly appreciated.
Lumie is an amazing product and one that I've used daily since receiving. It illuminates to represent a sunrise or sunset combined with aromatherapy for a totally relaxing experience.

You can set a 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 or 90 minute sunset/sunrise and insert your own favourite fragrances in the two chambers for gradual release. It has a snooze mode, remote control, a beep option, night light setting and also a security setting where you can turn the light on while away; it really has everything covered!

Home Is Where The Heart Is Print - £23
Each item sold at Elsie & Fleur is made by artisan crafters with this lovely piece from Angie Spurgeon being no exception. It arrives in a white glass frame with archival inks for long lasting colour - the colours are so lovely with lots of pretty pastel shades included.

What makes this even more special is the fact you can insert photos into the windows and door to personalise it to your family! Such a lovely idea. It also has a stand and hook already attached for ease of displaying and it certainly stands out on my windowsill.

Tasty Little Numbers - 60p each at Waitrose
If mum has a sweet tooth without wanting to consume to many calories this may be the perfect treat. Each box (Belgian milk, dark and white chocolate) contains 6 bars with a biscuit centre and they are only 100 calories each!

If you are looking for alternative snacks there are peanuts, crisps and other items available too on the website. There are even dinners for 200 calories - I wouldn't mind sinking my teeth into those either.

Raisthorpe Manor Gifts - £7 and £11.85
Raisthorpe Manor, an award winning beverage producer based in Yorkshire, has a lovely variety of gift solutions including these Milk Chocolate Shot Cups which can be filled with your favourite beverage, mousse, sweets or other goodies to enjoy. There are 12 in box so you could pop them out for a party as an alternative dessert or just let mum indulge a little and save them for herself!

The Eton Mess Chocolate Bar with Vodka gift set would make a delightful present too. The white chocolate is covered in a mix of meringue and fruit whereas the vodka is flavoured with strawberry! A wonderful duo.
