I'm on a bit of a mission this year (as I mentioned in my beauty haul post just here) to boost my confidence and take care of little old me a little bit more as I approach the big three zero - EEK. Therefore I've been treating myself to the odd beauty product baskets full and I've become dedicated to my daily skincare routine since January. Panda eyes from last nights makeup is not a look I've seen in quite some time, thankfully, and I'm looking and feeling so much better for it.
I've even received quite a few lovely items from companies to put to the test recently and here are some of the latest ones I've been using...
I've even received quite a few lovely items from companies to put to the test recently and here are some of the latest ones I've been using...
Time Bomb Black Ops Dark Circle Rescue - £36
This is shaped perfectly for easy application around the eyes although you can apply a small amount to your fingertips to gently rub in if you wish. It is to be used twice a day, focusing on the darker under eye area and the corners and it really is quite magical! It reflects light well, with a shimmering look, even underneath makeup, so your imperfections and bags are minimalised. Perhaps a bit pricey for the size but it definitely does what it says on the packaging! It is ideal for hyper-pigmentation too.
Dr Brandt Pores No More Pore Defining Cream - £55
I've actually been using this as a base for my makeup recently as I really like the silky feel to it and the way it helps my dry skin no end, despite being aimed at oily/combination skin. It provides a nice glow and hydrates while both tightening pores for a flawless look and controlling your oil production. The tea tree scent was a little overpowering to begin but I now really enjoy using this after cleansing day and night. It really absorbs well without being greasy.
Braun Cleansing Brush and Mini Epilator - £89.99
This handy tools combines both an epilator to remove the tiniest of hairs and a soft bristle brush for a deep clean. The heads are interchangeable for your convenience and it runs on batteries which are supplied - always a bonus! The epilator attachment is slimline for ultimate precision and it can leave skin hair free for as long as 4 weeks. I've found it really useful for my eyebrows in particular as it means I will need to get them threaded a lot less regularly, if at all. When it comes to facial cleaning the brush removes makeup and impurities from your pores six times better than manual cleansing. It really leaves me feeling clean and fresh after use and I like that it can be used in the shower and that the micro-oscillations help to refine my face.
This particular set also comes with a lighted mirror and beauty pouch which are great when travelling.
Flexitol Heel Balm - £4.99
Whether you suffer from dry skin or just want to prepare your feet for the summer, I can hear the pretty sandals calling me already, this is a great product to have. Medically proven to treat damaged heels the cream is thick, rich and deeply moisturising. The flip-top lid makes application easy and it really does make such a difference to cracked skin on your feet - it leaves it soft and smooth and helps to reduce any discomfort. I've even recommended it to a few people already.
Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum - £35.50
This makes a good primer as it really reduces the look of lines and wrinkles while smoothing skin in the process. It improves the luminosity of skin, and the pump action bottle means a little goes a long way so it should last quite some time. It is designed to prevent ageing and reduce the existing signs that you may already have and I'm fairly certain I've noticed a difference; skin feels a bit tighter and firmer. It has a unique formulation which includes 10 active ingredients at full concentration.
Ginvera Exfoliating Marvel Gel - £22
This is another tea tree based product but with a difference; it helps to remove dead skin to provide a radiant glow and clear finish for both your face and neck. It has an interesting texture which is similar to jelly and the particles can't be felt until it is in use. Simply apply a small amount to your dry finger tips and massage it into your T-zone for a minute to gently exfoliate, remove black heads and brighten your complexion. The scent wasn't to my taste but the great results will ensure I use this as part of my daily routine.
