Putting Hill's Pet Food To The Test

*Sponsored post in collaboration with Hill's Pet Nutrition*

It's not long until puppies and other pets become a big part of the family and Spartan is no exception. It feels like only yesterday we were collecting him as a tiny bundle of fur and bringing him home for the first time, but he is now fast approaching his 8th birthday and I don't really remember life without him.

If we are travelling I always seek out pet friendly accommodation so that he can join us and he often comes along for day trips to the beach, fishing and beyond.
I even refer to him as my third baby at times as he really is quite a pampered pooch!

Ensuring he has a good diet, like the rest of the family, is vital for his health and wellbeing and selecting products that meet the nutritional requirements for his age is essential. We were offered the Hill's Science Plan food for Spartan to try, specifically the Canine Mature Adult 7+ Active Longevity bag, and after reading about the brand in Good Housekeeping I was happy to accept on his behalf.

I gradually introduced the food to Spartan by adding some in with his normal dry meals and increasing the quantity over a number of days, to prevent any tummy upset. He seemed a little dubious at first with the change, he can be fussy like his owner at times, but it wasn't long until he was clearing his bowl quickly - he appeared to be genuinely enjoying the swap.

It seems to have a nicer texture to it than what we were using previously and also a more pleasant scent.

If you're not 100% satisfied with the food, based on taste, consistency and quality, you can however get a refund which proves just how confident they are in their products by offering the customer peace of mind when purchasing. At £32.99 a bag, it's slightly higher in price compared to other brands but the more you read about the product you can begin to understand why - I've actually ordered another 3kg bag since and tried a few other items from the range.

Key Benefits
  • Joint and mobility support with glucosamine and chondroitin from natural sources
  • Sustains healthy vital organs with balanced sodium and phosphorus levels
  • Highly digestible ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption
  • Made with high quality ingredients for great taste

I was pleased by the fact there are no added artificial preservatives, flavours or colours and I also found the PRESS-LOK® resealable fastener incredibly useful to keep the food fresh. It has been created by VELCRO® and due to the shape of the bag it almost closes automatically after opening so it's ideal for busy parents who may have their hands full - you don't need to worry that the pet food is going stale!
