The Croods

What do you get if you combine family fun, laughter galore and a pre-historic adventure?
The Croods! This action packed movie burst the UK box office earning over £26million and as it comes from the makers of other successful films, including Lilo & Stitch and Space Chimps, it is sure to please young and old alike.

We received a pre-release copy to review, complete with bonus features, and it was loved by us all!
The wonderfully animated movie follows the journey of the crazy Croods as they travel in search of a new home after their cave is destroyed. They meet some interesting characters (and creatures) along the way and discover the magic of fire and comfort of shoes too!

The story has a lovely hidden meaning based around teamwork, friendship and hope. It teaches children that even when times are tough if you stay strong and stick with your loved ones you can take on the world... quite literally! A very important life lesson.

We all snuggled up to watch this together and there were certainly plenty of moments that had us giggling from under our duvet.

"I loved the bit where they had a snap shot and they all got bopped in the face! Thunk was really silly and made me laugh."
- Jamster

"The best bit was when they made a trap for the turkey fish and it back fired, it was actually hilarious!"
- Minxy

The fun didn't stop when the movie ended as we decided to try some other activities with The Croods as our theme.

We played some of the games on the Dreamworks website and downloaded the printables to colour in and to create things with. These are ideal for keeping little ones entertained with the colder weather lingering!

I also downloaded the free Croods apps onto my phone where we could get creative with colour and Crood-ify ourselves into 7 of the main characters.

What do you think?!

Beautiful.

We baked some fossil biscuits to enjoy which were ideal for this theme...

Ingredients

225g butter
110g caster sugar
275g plain flour

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Combine the ingredients together to form a dough.
  • Roll into small balls and flatten slightly (to around 1cm thickness maximum).
  • Push your cleaned toys into the cookie rounds to create the prints (we used Jamster's dinosaurs!)
  • Cook for 12-15 minutes until golden.
  • Scoff!

We really enjoyed The Croods and I've actually ordered a few copies as stocking fillers for friends too this Christmas.

It definitely gets a thumbs up from us and I can tell it will be viewed many more times in the near future!

You can grab your copy on DVD or Blu-ray here:

*We were sent a copy of The Croods on DVD by Mumsnet and Fox for the purpose of this review, the opinions given are honest and our own*
