Berndes One Pot Wonder - Red Wine Beef Stew Recipe (WIN)

You may have already heard but Tesco are running another great sticker promotion (between 29th September – 25th January 2015) where you can save up to 70% on exclusive Berndes cookware products. It's a great way to replace your old pots and pans for the New Year and save money in the process, just by doing your usual grocery shopping!

For every £20 you spend online OR in-store you can collect a sticker and once you’ve collected five you can use these to get your discount on professional kitchenware items. Tesco sent us an Oval Cast Iron Casserole to put to the test and with it being winter I decided to make one of our favourite family dishes. It is a great quality product, heavyweight and it minimises washing up as I can pop everything in the one pot!

Red Wine Beef Stew

Ingredients
80g plain flour
1kg beef (stewing, cubed)
3tbsp oil
2 onions (diced)
1 tsp garlic puree/2 gloves
300g mushrooms (we used button)
2/3 bottle of wine (we used Bonterra Zinfandel, available from Tesco)
1 beef stock cube
2 tbsp tomato puree
3 bay leaves
5 rashers of bacon (cut into strips)

A rich flavour and deep red colour

Method
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
Place the flour in a bowl and gradually add the beef ensuring it is coated on each side
Place the Berndes pot on the hob, add the oil then put onto a low heat
Add the coated beef and gently brown
Add the onions and once softened add the garlic and mushrooms. Stir for one minute
Pour in the wine and crumble in the stock cube
Add the bay leaves, tomato puree, and bacon then stir well
Place the lid onto the pot and put it in the oven for an hour and a half, removing the lid for the last 20 minutes

I serve this with baby roast potatoes or my delicious potato gratin plus a fresh warm loaf to mop up any juice.

*** WIN ***

For your chance to win a Berndes Casserole Pot of your own, worth around £120, you can enter via the Gleam entry form below.
Leaving a comment is mandatory but there are additional entry methods available too.
