With the January sales in full swing I thought it was about time that I treated little old me to some beauty goodies. As the Mr says, I always put everyone else first, so I needed to make myself priority for a change. My normal routine pre 2015 would pretty much just involve a face wipe to remove makeup, a blob of moisturiser with the occasional mask or scrub when I felt I was being naughty and neglecting my skin. Turning 30 this year (oh.my.goodness) and starting to worry about lines and wrinkles gave me even more reason to fill my basket!
Benefit - How To Look The Best At Everything
This lovely set, which looks like a book, includes 4 miniature sized products, a brush, mirror and a small guide on how to use them. Parting with £25.50 seemed like quite a lot initially for something so small but after several recommendations I'm so glad that I did. The Boi-ing duo (in 01 and 02),
Porefessional and Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow (in "I'm Pure 4 Sure" Ivory) create a wonderful base for your face and really help to smooth fine lines and hide imperfections. I then use the Hello Flawless powder (in "I Love Me" Ivory) to set my makeup once complete which keeps it in place all day.
There are several sets available which suit the majority of skin tones and I opted for the light version as I'm certainly in need of some sunshine. When these products run low I will definitely be purchasing the full size versions of both the custom powder cover-up and brightening makeup.

Rimmel - Special Eyes Precision Eye Liner Pencil
I've used Rimmel pencils since I was a teen as they have always been great quality and value. I decided it was about time I replaced the small stump I had remaining at the bottom of my makeup bag for a brand new one though; there is only so much you can use that sharpener and when the lid is longer than the product itself it's a sure sign I need to go shopping! It's straight forward to apply and I use it on my lower lash line for amazing definition. I sometimes use it on my brows too as it's a near identical shade.
Bourjois - Liner Feutre
I've always had a pot of eyeliner instead of a felt-tip pen but this is easier to apply, quicker and less messy. It drys instantly so there is less chance of smudging and it provides an all day look with no need to reapply. I literally put it on first thing, usually flicked out for a cat eye effect, then wash off before bed with no touch ups required during the day. It's low cost and I imagine it is going to last quite some time. It's a smokey eye essential.
L'oreal - True Match Foundation
This provides great coverage without feeling heavy and it blends in really well. I went for a shade up from my natural tone to provide some colour and warmth to my skin and it seems to do the job really well without looking orange. A little goes a long way and I pop a pea size amount on each cheek and rub it out towards my jawline, spreading a small amount down my neck too to prevent any obvious makeup lines. The pump action top makes it easy apply and it provides a smooth finish, even more so when used with the Benefit set mentioned above.
Bourjois - Shine Edition Lipstick
I NEVER wear lipstick so this was a first for me. I usually stick with a natural look of balm or clear gloss but I felt it was about time I was brave and added some colour to my look. My lips are naturally quite a nice shade but having seen so many beautiful festive tutorials and images on Instagram over the past few weeks I wanted to take the plunge. I actually purchased several lipsticks from this range but 27 'Oh My Doll' is my favourite so far in quite a vibrant pink. I apply it sparingly as I don't want anything too bold having not really worn it previously and it glides on nicely with no stickiness and lasts a good few hours at a time despite eating, drinking and chatting as usual!
Boujois - Cream Blush
The Bourjois powder blush pots which come complete with a brush have lurked in the depths of my bag for some time and regulalry make an appearance but I was tempted to try the cream version as I can apply it with my fingers. I also find I can create a more dramtic look with better precision when using my hands so this was the preferred option for me. It's really creamy in texture and you only need a tiny bit to add colour to your cheeks. I love the variety of shades available and the fact I don't need a separate compact to apply as there is a mirror in the lid.
Younique - Moodstruck 3D Fiber Lashes
This was a product I'd heard about briefly before but hadn't decided to purchase, mainly due to the price tag. At £23 it is a high end mascara but with a few friends being amazed by the results I decided to make an order via a blogging friend who is also a presenter for the brand.
Having now used it daily since it arrived and being more than pleased with the difference it makes to my eyes and overall look, there is no going back! The Transplanting Gel is applied directly onto lashes or on top of your ordinary mascara, whichever you prefer, and then you add the natural fibers before sealing with the gel once more. It's really easy to do and it dramatically increases the length and thickness of my lashes for a false lash effect! It's incredible and you can even build it up further for a more exaggerated look.
